KEEP YOUR Living Pot HEALTHY
Three basic things to keep your succulents healthy and your Living Pot looking great.
1.Proper Watering
Never mist your succulents
Water your plants only when completely dry; typically every two weeks (Succulents in larger pots may require less frequent watering. Succulents in smaller pots may require more frequent watering.)
Water your Living Pot until the water drips out from the bottom hole
Avoid getting the leaves wet
Golden Rule for succulents: When in doubt don’t water
Are your succulents getting proper water?
Succulents need more water when leaves:
have dull color
hang down instead of being firm and upright
are thinner than normal; have soft wrinkles
Correct by:
increasing your watering frequency
ensuring soil is getting wet all the way through - water should drain through the hole in the bottom
Succulents need less water when leaves:
· become translucent
· have a yellow hue to otherwise colorful leaves
· have a mushy, juicy appearance
· fall off with the slightest touch
Correct by
Not watering for at least a week, longer if the soil is still wet
Reducing watering frequency in the future to prevent rot from reoccurring
2.Proper Lighting
Perfect light: bright, indirect light, either from a window or indoor grow light for six hours daily.
Are your succulents getting proper light?
Succulents need more light when:
· plant leans to the light source
· rosettes open up and stretch out to reach towards the light source
· plant grows taller (elongate), away from the center creating large gaps on the stem between leaves.
· smaller leaves and lighter in color than normal.
· lower or bottom leaves arch and point downwards,
· original color intensity fades
Correct by
o Relocating succulent to spot with more daylight
o Setting up plant lights
Succulents need less light when:
leaves look sunburned, bleached, or have spots
Correct by
Relocating succulent to spot with less daylight
3.Proper Temperature
Are your succulents in proper temperature?
· above 45 degrees
· below 85 degrees
